The Three Stooges: "You Nazty Spy" Extra Credit Video

Sorry again! I would like to do anything to improve my final grade...

This is a short comedy released in 1940 in the United States. It is a fun, "make-fun-of" representation about Hitler and Germany's government. The three main characters are jews (a good reason to hate on Germany for being cruel with their brothers!) and you often see them using Yiddish and Jewish cultural references, exclamations and phrases in different languages (probably for the Jewish population to understand and laugh along). Also, this is the first "satiric depiction" (as you call it) made about Hitler, which later popularized and even nowadays are common and really funny. The internet is filled with funny and even rude images, videos, cartoons and shows making fun of the Nazis. This is a sinopsis of the episode:

There is a fictional country called Moronica where three characters working in for a munitions company (Ixnay, Ohnay and Amscray) talk about needing a change in the country. They wanted a war for territory and money, but the current king wouldn't allow that as he based his leadership on peace. They decide to look for a "puppet" dictator (yay, vocabulary!). They talk to the 3 dumb workers in the dining room (The Stooges) and assigns them an important job in this new government. Moe would be the dictator (Hitler), Curly the field marshall  (Hermann Göring) (being strong and agressive but in a dumb manner) and Larry the minister of propaganda (Joseph Goebbels).

They somehow take over the country and its king with a putsch or sudden government deposition (just like the real Beer Hall Putsch) and direct a speech for the crowd. Larry, for being in charge of the propaganda just shows some "Cheers" or "Applause" signs for the public to follow, representing how the media made look Hitler like a good guy with nice ideals. Moe announces the slogan of his government: "Moronica for Morons" (as in "Germany for Germans").

Later that day, Mattie Herring (representing the famous spy Mata Hari of WWI) went to the dicator's office with orders to poison Moe. She is discovered and the trio tries to execute her, but failed for their stupidity. Hitler's "Stormtroopers" are represented here, being clumsy, dumb and that just follow orders withour asking why, but also very military-trained. Moe is also seen shouting and exclamating various phrases in other languages (presumably German) just like Hitler used to while issuing orders or giving speeches.

The king's daughter escapes and the Spooges call for a round table meeting with other delegates to avoid Mattie from coming back with an army. The delegates are all in disagreement with this new form of government, so a fun fight starts between them and the Stooges, ending in the knocking of all delegates greatly aided by Curly. This fight probably represents how Hitler used methods by force like killing any opposition by sending the military and terrorizing the society.

The king, his daughter and an angry crowd of people comes rushing into the palace. The Spooges immedeately abdicated and ran into a lion's den. They were eaten by the lions, finishing this comedy short.

In my opinion, this comedy was really fun! I had a good time watching the whole episode and manage to understand some of the references and puns used (not all of them, taking into account these are 70 years old references from other cultures). The acting was decent and the humor was simple and even kind of "stupid", but not "stupid" in a bad way, but "stupid" as in the Looney Tunes (mild-violence, slaps, dumb characters, etc.). It was a good show in general.
